Understanding what critical and creative thinking is according to Stephen Brookfield

The way you take bad news influences how you think, when someone tells you, you are doing something wrong, you can take it either in a positive or negative way, so here we can learn that emotions may influence our critical thinking.
Critical and creative thinking take place basically because we need to identify the assumptions and check them for accuracy in order to make decisions, create new ideas and choose the correct choice, but the real reason way you think critically is because you need to prepare yourself to inform actions.
If you may think creatively then you may think about the different and multiple views in the different situations you may face, you have to think creatively in order to move out of the typical mental framework you are living, to have different and multiple ideas about an activity.
Assumptions can make you change your thinking.

There are three different types of assumptions:

*Casual: This type explains a sequence of events that might happen in your life, it gives accurate and true reasons.

*Prescriptive: It explains how things should happen and how you should face them.

*Paradigmatic: It frames and in somehow puts under a dome a situation and an action.

In the same way, there are different ways to engage your students into a critical thinking:

-Analytic Philosophy: It is an inductive, logical, inferential reasoning; it is basically conducted to formulate constructive arguments.

-Natural Science: Which involves the application of the scientific method- it is based on looking at the phenomenon and then try to explain it through experiments.

-Critical theory: Someone who knows exactly how the power moves in the society and how it influences in the society.

-Pragmatism: Someone who thinks in a pragmatic way is someone who is opened to new knowledge and to new thinking, someone who sees knowledge as constantly reinvented and in constantly change.

  1. hi, i enjoyed reading your, it was clear and very well summarized , i loved your introduction because it takes interesting parts of the lecture like how we think critically because we need to prepare ourselves to inform action, so it is like a necesity to justify our actions, so the complex process of thinking critically have to get a result , an action.

Thinking about "My patients are dying. But it’s their right to keep going"

Patients right to keep fighting This article got me! It was really hard to go through it, I felt as if the writer were talking to me, I couldn't stop thinking about one of my grandparents suffering from a terrible disease. It was pretty obvious doctor was totally in agreement, but at the same time he was totally scared for his patients suffering: " This leaves me in an uncomfortable state: caught between my medical recommendation to pursue less aggressive care and my patient’s primal desire to rid his body of cancer " But even though for doctors, it is difficult to accept the different changes and the aftermath that chemical procedures can make: "She is only 34 years old, but after two rounds of chemotherapy, her youth is steadily leaving her ." It is sad knowing that people are suffering from these terrible diseases just like Cancer, but the worst of all is knowing that sometimes treatment is worse than illness itself, a clear example of agreement on...

Give examples and descriptions of those situations that, in your view, are relevant to your learning experience . In this new week I taught class to first graders, I can say that my skills for planning classes have developed a lot more, on week number 5, I had some problems with the plans I had made, but I feel way more satisfied this week because I can surely say that the goals I proponed were successfully achieved, kids had more fun than on the fifth week because this week activities were more dynamic and more didactic, I had promised myself that I will try to at least include 2 ...
